Answers to key questions about stainless steel

Answers to key questions about stainless steel

1: Is stainless steel really "stainless"?

No! It will still corrode in chloride ions (salt water), acidic environments or mechanical damage.

Recommendation: 316 is more resistant to salt spray than 304, and regular cleaning can extend its life.

2: Why does stainless steel rust?

Reasons: surface scratches, contact with carbon steel (iron pollution), long-term contact with acid and alkali.

Treatment: Wipe with white vinegar or special stainless steel cleaner.

Material selection suggestions

Corrosive environment: 316 or duplex steel is preferred.

Cost control: 430 is suitable for decoration in dry environments.

Hygiene requirements: Choose 304/316L (low carbon, avoid intergranular corrosion).

Maintenance tips

Avoid scrubbing with steel wool to prevent damage to the passivation film.

Do not store electrolyte solutions such as salt and vinegar for a long time.
